We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to take charge of the design and project management as we build and operate our rental fleet of Roborigger units.
You will be working alongside a team of highly technical mechanical, electrical and mechatronic engineers supported by our research and industry alliance with Curtin University, NERA, CORE Innovation Hub, and METS Ignited.
About the role
You will be responsible for:
The design of Roborigger lifting and materials handling products that incorporate Roborigger technology.
Production of calculations and drawings suitable for independent third party certification
Project management of design, build and commissioning of Roborigger products. This includes the management of multi disciplined input and management of costs.
This role requires you to have good first principle design skills and the ability to analyse by hand and by computer. You must be systematic at design and troubleshooting.
You must have a good knowledge of bearings, seals, gears, as well as the ability to design mechanisms with levers, shafts, gears, clutch, springs, etc. suitable for compact spaces.
As a senior mechanical engineer, we expect you to have a knowledge of lifting and in particular AS 1418 and other global lifting standards. You would also have an understanding of the ISO 9001:2015 quality principles and able to design processes and implement them.
You need to have an understanding of efficient manufacturing techniques using sub assemblies and parallel activities and you should be able to pick up and understand the multidisciplinary technical issues associated with Roborigger i.e. sufficient core knowledge of electrical, electronics, mechanical engineering, how to work with a multidisciplinary team, building and commissioning electronically controlled equipment as well as the ability to understand the construction and resource industry work environments and the lifting and crane industry.
Where you will be working
The work will be generally located at our West Perth headquarter but will also involve working at our assembly and service facility in Wangara.
About you
You will have a mechanical engineering qualification as well as a minimum of 5 years’ design experience. You will have experience in a manufacturing environment or designing for a company undertaking manufacture – ideally serial manufacturing. You will also have an experience in an ISO 9001 manufacturing or production environment.
Experience in manufacturing electromechanical devices with electronics and or hydraulics as well as designing lifting equipment to AS 1418 or other lifting standards will be desirable.
As a senior member of the team, we expect you to be highly computer literate, brutally honest, and be able to develop excellent rapport with team members and customers. You will have a multidisciplinary experience planning work practices and defining the process in a formal manner that delivers highly efficient and systematic manufacturing process. You are an extremely organised person who plans meticulously, yet is able to manage change and disruption and can adapt.
